I am a huge proponent of constructive feedback. I think it is necessary for us to do our best work. However, our culture has slipped into uninvited criticism of everything and everyone.

Whenever a logo is redesigned, we tear it apart. When a musician puts out a new single, it's torn to shreds by haters. When an author publishes a new novel, she is disparaged because the story isn't quite as good as the first book. 

What if instead our first instinct was to offer words of support to artists? Offering praise for putting themselves out there and shaping culture.
