From an early age, all the way through high school, I played baseball. One of the crucial pieces of advice I received from every coach was: "after you hit the ball, focus on first base".
It was hard. I wanted to see where the ball went after I hit it, so I could bask in my success! But that would distract me and slow me down from the goal of getting on base.
I often have a 'hit' of an idea but get distracted on the end results (where the ball went), rather than focusing on just getting to first.
