Coffee seems like a pretty simple beverage to make. Roast beans, grind them, and then pass water through them.
Why then does the taste vary so much between cups? Because the coffee process can't be simplified down to those three steps. It takes careful preparation within each step to do it
well.
Conceptualizing a process doesn't make me a master. It's in the doing where the true understanding begins. We can only master a craft through hands-on practice.
The next time you drink an amazing cup of coffee, think about the time and process it took to master that craft.
